Meet the Nurse

My name is Mandy Bise (Nurse Mandy). I am a daughter of Christ, a wife, Mom to 7 wonderful children and Mimi to 3 amazing grandchildren.

I have been a registered nurse for 14 years. Graduating from Allegany College with my Associates Degree in Nursing, I worked at Sacred Heart Hospital before moving to the new Western Maryland Campus now UPMC. After obtaining my Bachelor's Degree from Capella University in 2020, I felt that God was calling me to volunteer as the school nurse at Lighthouse Christian Academy. I slowly moved into that role while still working at the hospital during the 2020-2021 school year. In the summer of 2021, I took another step of faith leaving the hospital and accepted the position of full time school nurse here at LCA.

.

I love this school, the staff and the students. I feel extremely blessed to be given the opportunity to serve here as your school nurse.

Allergies!

It is very important for the safety of every student that we have an up to date allergy list on file at the school. Please check RenWeb and see if your student's allergies are correct. If your student has a severe allergy and uses an epi-pen, please have their physician fill out a medication order form and return it to the school with the student's epi-pen. Only students approved by the physician and the school nurse are allowed to carry an epi-pen in school.

From the Nurse's Desk:

Stay Healthy By Knowing The Facts

To help avoid getting or spreading diseases such as Influenza and other illness, follow these tips:

  • Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Washing hands correctly is the most important thing you can do to stay healthy.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact such as kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils with people that are sick.

  • Cover your cough and sneezes with a tissue or shirt sleeve, not your hands.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys, doorknobs, especially if someone is sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick and keep sick children home from school if they are ill.
